Don Papa Rum Hosts Sugarlandia Event

This Tuesday, Don Papa Rum invited us to experience Sugarlandia, an event to celebrate the first exclusive look at Casa Bocado, a Mexican inspired restaurant by Chef Ivy Stark, former executive chef at Dos Caminos. The eatery also serves a large selection of margaritas and tequilas, many of which were made to order at Bocado’s two bars throughout the night.

Don Papa Rum is the original flagship drink of the Don Papa brand, aged seven years characterized by a light and fruity smell, smooth and delicate taste, and long textured finish. The brand originates from Negros in the Philippines, where Sugarlandia was founded on the independence led by the Papa Isio, to which the brand is named after in tribute.

A few favorite speciality cocktails were Pillow Talk (Don Papa 7 Rum, Grapefruit, Elderflower Liquor, Rose Water), Nick of Thyme (Don Papa 7 Rum, Kiwi, Lemon, Thyme), and Pineapple Express (Don Papa 7 Rum, Pineapple, Lime, Thai Basil). The venue featured live music by DJ Rose and DJ Brant as we well as chic Mexican dancers and decor extending from the main restaurant level to the more intimate basement floor, embodied by a dark, exotic, and spiritual experience with incense and sage, perfect for late night drinks post dinner.
